讲座摘要

Magnetic flux rope(MFR) is generally considered the core structure of coronal massejections (CMEs). However, how an MFR forms and develops into a CME has beenelusive. We propose the following scenarios based on our observational studies: acoherent magnetic flux rope may originate from a 'seed' MFR that is formed throughmagnetic reconnection in a current layer underneath a sheared magnetic arcade, as aresult of the convalescence of multiple plasmoids formed in the current layer. Duringthe eruption, while magnetic reconnections continually convert overlying, untwistedmagnetic flux into twisted flux to help further build up the pre-existent MFR, they alsorestructure the MFR through reconnections within the MFR and through thosebetween the MFR and the surrounding field. The restructuring may go as far as tocompletely replace the original MFR' s flux, which is manifested by drastic footpointmigration, a configuration not expected by the standard model, which highlights the3D nature of magnetic reconnection behind these phenomena.
