讲座摘要
Local helioseismology provides a unique tool to monitor the Sun’s far-side active regions using only the near-side observations. Recently, we developed a machine-learning method to convert the helioseismic images of far-side active regions, which are actually travel-time deficits of p-mode waves, into far-side magnetic-flux maps. These maps provide useful information for space weather forecasting and global-scale coronal field modeling. In this talk, I will also present a recent observation of a sunquake event, which was excited by the X9.3 flare in 2017 and caused an unprecedented “magnetic-field sunquake” event. I then discuss why some strong flares can generate sunquake events while some others cannot.
