讲座摘要

Wave-wave nonlinear interactions are a prototype behavior of waves, enabling the transfer of energy across distinct scales. Within the middle and upper atmosphere, a remarkable array of nonlinear interactions involving Planetary-Scale Waves takes place. These nonlinear interactions play a crucial role in establishing vertical connections between different layers of near-Earth space. However, the relevant investigation is limited by the scarcity of relevant observations. These studies typically necessitate synchronized observations spanning multiple longitude sectors. To address these challenges, a series of dual- and multi-station methods were developed. Through the application of these methods, a range of waves were discovered, including the recent discovery of second harmonic generation of Rossby waves reported by Nature Communications. Moreover, the current talk will also discuss the application of the Manley-Rowe relation in quantifying energy transport in nonlinear interactions of atmospheric waves and introduce the adjusted Feynman diagram to represent the nonlinear interactions.

何茂盛,中国科学院国家空间科学中心研究员。2011年获得中国科学院地质与地球物理研究所的博士学位,博士论文专注于电离层与中性大气的相互作用。在2011年至2023年期间,他先后在不来梅雅各布大学和莱布尼兹大气物理研究所担任博士后研究员、项目研究员和固定研究员。他的研究方向主要涵盖类地行星空间电流系统、中层大气动力学以及与行星尺度波动。他于2023年5月加入了中科院国家空间科学中心,并目前致力于电离层的垂直耦合研究。
